The Davo's/Spotters Snapper Challenge
Well, we threw it open to all challengers for the month of September and we had some great fish weighed in, despite the sometimes marginal weather. Entries came from as far south as Caloundra to as far north as Double Island Point. And all points in between. The winners are listed below...
"Cracking session at Mooloolaba 18 Mile. Berkley Pink Gulps got best results. Three snapper over 75cm. One kept, two released. Impressive at that size!"

Marc Horton Stephens. Best Photo

From Jim Brodie... "Hey guys. My son's friend James McMillan (below left) had his second ocean trip on Sunday. Caught this beast on a 2-4kg rod with 8 pound main line and 9 pound leader. His biggest fish to date. One very happy young chap. We were at Caloundra Wide. Not much showing on the sounder, a little here and there. Had a couple of drifts that produced a keeper pearly on a knife jig then anchored and started the burly trail. Next fish was a tusky on a paternoster. Only just legal so we let him live. Not long after my white Z-Man Jerk ShadZ locked onto a nice pan sized snapper. Another good sized tusky on the paternoster and finally the 65cm snapper. James got that one on a silver Catch Freestyle Kabura. Awesome effort. James is so addicted to fishing. He's up at 4am almost every day hitting the canals around Pelican Waters and the Pumicestone Passage jetties. He is so alive and grateful when I take him out. A pleasure to have on the boat. Overall we only had 5 bites that produced 5 fish. Cheers, Jim."

James McMillan. Best Story - Bella Dutney. Best Smile

From Luke Dutney... "Hi Guys. I took my brother, my two boys Jack and Will, and niece Bella (above right) to the Barwon Banks. It was my niece's first trip out wide and it turned out to be a cracker! Each of the kids picked up a nice snapper each. Bella was buzzing, having caught her first snapper, and from the whole ocean experience. We had up-close encounters with dolphins, sharks and whales. Safe to say she is hooked now!! Cheers, Luke."
